Sperrin Sp Fire Doors - Making your Open Fire More Efficient, Safe and Controllable !

These fire doors make it safe to leave a burning fire unattended and stop the risk of sparks. They make a vast difference to efficiency and fuel consumption as the heat made stays in your room rather than escaping up the chimney. You can still hear and see the fire - yet it can also be controlled via the top and bottom air vents in the door.

Same 18" wide open fire place - before fitting of Sperrin SP firedoor

Fitted today - Kelly's Sperrin SP fire door has transformed her fireplace and she's been kind enough to send me before and after photos. (Thanks Kelly !)

Use a normal fireplace opening, 16" to 18" wide and fit a Sperrin fire door  (manufactured in Northern Ireland) with just two brackets and two thunderbolts into the floor. Makes a vast difference to efficiency and a super alternative to a wood burning or multi fuel stove at a fraction of the overall costs.

These are a DIY fit and normally don't take long at all. All they need is a working chimney in good order - no liners, no certification, no building control or specialist engineer required.

Two door styles available from stock at Natural Heating, Unit 5, Bunns Bank Ind Est, Attleborough, Norfolk, NR17 1QD - 01953 452525

FURTHER INFO : Most customers actually fit the fire doors themselves.

They are very easy to fit... and as because they are a door for an open fire (and not a stove)... they do not require a HETAS engineer nor a building control notice.  They are literally a DIY fit !

Two thunderbolts fit bolt the bottom plate into the fire place opening to secure, and there are two arms which swing up and grip into the front of the throat of the chimney and are tightened up with a spanner.

If you have a plastered wall or a marble surround (ie smooth surface) that's it !

It is a brick wall, you will additionally need a tube of 1200deg C special silicone (which is under £10 a tube) to seal it.

Some customers choose to line out their fireplace openings (possibly even remove the rear charibrick) with vermiculite, which is a heat retardant boarding made of volcanic material and deflects heat up to 1200deg C into the room.

Vermiculite high density boarding is 25mm thick and cuts far easier than wood with a saw. This makes it stay very bright in your fireplace opening, protects the walls and pushes heat much faster into the room.

If you are not confident enough to try and tackle installation yourself, please contact us with more details of your location, and I can see if we know of anyone we can suggest to you who may fit.

Hope you don't mind, but as there have been a lot of questions on this product, I may post the reply minus any names etc on to our facebook post incase it helps others.
