The fireplace opening was technically too large for the size of the internal flue diameter - so the option really was to fit a stove.  However, fireplaces in houses built mid 1960's onwards typically don't open out very big and it would be especially difficult to try and remove the surround without damage (to be refitted) as required. The customer had a large room and needed a larger output stove - yet the actual opening was only capeable of taking a small sized 5kw at best. What to do? Lovely little Villager Esprit 5 Multi Fuel stove fitted for a local customer last week by Martin Lancaster This is a traditional looking stove with quite a large size glass for the size of the unit. It's a classical / timeless type design with a single door. There is an external riddling grate system inside and an ash pan. Villager stoves are made in the UK.
