Lovely email from a customer today regarding a universal coal grate purchased from us last week. Eventually, spare parts often become discontinued for older stoves and original parts can become unavailable. It then becomes a very frustrating exercise (often impossible) trying to find compatible parts. For this reason, we designed our universal coal grates. These are specially designed so the customer or fitter can easily modify the item to suit. You can cut it to fit with an angle  grinder or alternatively add "wings" to extend out a bit if you are between sizes... but not so much that you really need or want to go to the larger size. Finding replacement parts such as coal grates for older multifuel stoves can be difficult and often impossible if your stove is no longer in current production or the original manufacturer cannot be found. Internal sizes of stoves can vary a lot and you will find lots of coal grates with different length, widths and depths and heights - but rarely one that meets the criteria you need to fit your fire.
